The U.S. economy added 145,000 jobs in December, which missed analyst expectations of 160,000. Although this number disappointed analysts, 2019 was a remarkable year for job growth. In totality, the U.S. economy had its 111th straight month of job creation and added roughly 2,125,000 jobs which is especially impressive as we are in the 11th year of an economic expansion. The unemployment rate sits at 3.5% which is the lowest rate since 1969 and according to a Bankrate.com survey 49% of employees reported a wage increase in 2019 which is up from 38% in 2018.
