It seems that no time in recent memory has such impetus been placed on American manufacturing as it is now. This emphasis on American made goods is spurring growth and creating positive headline news like, luxury goods manufacturer Louis Vuitton opening a facility in Texas and automotive injection molder/stamper Flex-N-Gate opening a plant in Detroit, to highlight a few recent projects.
Interestingly, the current fervor for American goods can be traced back to the “Buy American Act” of 1933. This legislation was passed by President Hoover on his last full day in office on March 3rd, 1933, and required the US government to prefer U.S.-made products in its purchases. This sentiment is back on the forefront as the “Buy American Hire American” executive order was signed into law on April 18th, 2017. The law seeks to create higher wages and employment rates for U.S. workers and strengthen the American economy, which is something we believe in strongly at Grow Michigan. As evidenced by Louis Vuitton and Flex-N-Gate, it appears to be working across a diverse cross-section of the economy.
If you have manufacturing clients looking to expand in any industry, Grow Michigan can help.
